If you grew up in the ’80s and early ’90s you probably remember sitting around the TV watching the antics of the night shift of a Manhattan municipal court presided over by Judge Harold “Harry” T. Stone, well you can relive the laughter again!
NBC has officially ordered the Night Court revival series. The multi-camera comedy has been in the works since December. It scored a pilot order in May and will now make it to the screen.
Based on the original series created by Reinhold Weege, the new Night Court centers on unapologetic optimist judge Abby Stone, the daughter of the late Harry Stone, who follows in her father’s footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former Night Court prosecutor Dan Fielding, with John Larroquette reprising his role.
It’s not clear whether Night Court will air midseason in the 2021/22 broadcast season or in the 2022/23 season.
