Father’s Creative Way To Help Kids During Bus Shortage

Sean Rogers Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, said his kids missed school Friday when their bus never showed up to take them to Graham Elementary and Middle School, so he posted on Facebook to see if any other local parents wanted their kids driven to school in a limousine borrowed from his father’s limo service.

Rogers said he soon received dozens of responses that led to his giving 25 kids a ride Monday, with the number increasing to 42 on Tuesday.

Rogers said,

Everybody always wants to say let’s help the community let’s stop this violence that type of stuff, but I feel like a big step of stopping the violence is getting kids to school instead of letting them skip school and go out and get into trouble.

Bus driver shortages have been reported across Ohio, and Columbus City Schools Superintendent Talisa Dixon said at a Tuesday board meeting that 15% to 20% of the district’s drivers called out nearly every day last week.
